Episode 14: Exploration Series - Boramae Park

안녕하세요!

Today's post is about 보라매공원(Boramae Park). It once used to be the Korean Air Force Academy and today it is a very large park consisted with many recreational activities.

To get to the park you can take line 2 and get off at Shindaebang Station Exit 4, or Boramae Station Exit 2 via line 4. I actually walked from SNU all the way to Boramae park twice this week!...

안녕하세요!

I went to the 평촌 (Pyeongchon) branch of Lotte Department Store yesterday. It is not a mall, but similar to The Bay and Nordstrom in North America.

To get here you take Line 2 to Sadang Station and transfer to Line 4, and stop at Beomgye Station.

안녕하세요!

Today's post is about an interesting cafe. It is CNN Cafe, located at the Graduate School of International Studies.

Episode 11: Exploration Series - Gangnam + Muji

안녕하세요!

You know Gangnam right?...I am sure everyone knows something about it by now. Gangnam is 10 minute subway ride from Nakseongdae, so I decided to go and explore. You can just take any Line 2 to reach Gangnam station.

Gangnam is known for its business area and also a shopping district. As soon as you leave the subway, you enter Gangnam's underground mall. There are many clothing shops, cellular shops, and a small food court.

Episode 10: Exploration Series - Myeongdong

안녕하새요!

Today I went to explore more of Myeongdong. I took the Number 02 BUS from stop 20 outside the Gwanak dorms and got off at Nakseongdae Station. Then I took the Line 2 to Sadang Station and transferred to Line 4, and got off at Myeongdong Station. Alternatively, you can keep riding the line 2 and get off at Euljiro 1-ga Station if you do not want to transfer lines.

However, at Myeongdong Station, there is an underground shopping mall.

Episode 09: SNU Series - Gamgol Cafeteria + SNUplex

안녕하세요!

From Tuesday to Thursday I have been logging into Sungang (which is the Korean course registration website) trying to edit my classes. During the first week of classes, SNU offers students freely edit and drop courses. You can attend the class you want to join even though you are waiting for a spot to get in. For exchange students, you can ask the professor to sign the overriding form (which is handed to you at the orientation) so that you can get a spot in the course that you want.

There are many things to explore on the campus. You will often see convenience stores, cafes, restaurants, cafeterias and snack shops.
The convenience stores are usually open until very late such as 2am or some for 24 hours such as CVS4U.

For lunch today, I met with the SNU buddy group to eat lunch at (Gamggol) cafeteria. If you are Vegetarian, I recommend going to this cafeteria for your meals. The price is higher than regular meals at 7,000KRW however, the meal is a buffet style so you can eat as much as you want~

Here is a photo of what the vegetarian buffet meal looks like:

Episode 08: Exploration Series - Itaewon + Going back to Insadong

안녕하세요!

Today I went to 이태웓 (Itaewon) which is nicknamed the international area of South Korea. If you are homesick already, you can visit Itaewon. There is not too much to see compared to other locations of Korea, but there is a mall and international eats such as KFC, Indian cuisine, and Chinese food.

If you are Vegan, I suggest a popular little restaurant called PLANT. The owner of PLANT is run by the blogger of Alien’s Day Out. The food is a little higher priced compared to local Korean restaurants, but the food is focused on quality and healthy eating. They also have selection of cakes and pastries.
