Episode 10: Exploration Series - Myeongdong

안녕하새요!

Today I went to explore more of Myeongdong. I took the Number 02 BUS from stop 20 outside the Gwanak dorms and got off at Nakseongdae Station. Then I took the Line 2 to Sadang Station and transferred to Line 4, and got off at Myeongdong Station. Alternatively, you can keep riding the line 2 and get off at Euljiro 1-ga Station if you do not want to transfer lines.

However, at Myeongdong Station, there is an underground shopping mall.

The lady said they smash this special cookie...

Very famous cookie company from America!
There are many shops to look at in the Myeongdong district. It would take a very long time to cover as both the large and small streets are filled with shops.

For lunch I walked about 20 minutes toward the Namsan Cable Car, and road the mini cable car up the hill.

I did not ride the Namsan Cable Car, but I walked a bit more to a traditional Korean restaurant named  산채집 (Sanche-jib). This restaurant specializes in bibimbap and Korean tonkatsu.

On the second floor you need to take off your shoes before you enter.

I ordered a bibimbap and one of my favourite side dish, 두투리묵 (Dottorimuk). Dottorimuk is acorn jelly salad.

After lunch I walked back down and found a very cute cafe called Caffe Antique. The owner was very kind and friendly, he smiled at every customer and when I told him how pretty his cafe was, he said my Korean was very good! You will see thousands of cafes around Korea, but I believe this cafe is one of the really special ones.

There was an animation event at the Seoul Cartoon Museum. If you like anime, this would be a good place for you to visit.

I reached the shopping streets of Myeongdong again

There was a long line up at Milky Bee. They differentiate themselves from other ice-cream shops because they shape their ice-cream into roses.

This croquette shop was also very popular.

Here are more photos of some food carts.

디엔드!
That is all for today’s episode.
Thank you for reading!
