Episode 05: SNU Series - CBA Seoul City Tour

안녕하세요!

Today was an exciting day, the CBA Seoul City Tour! This was a pre-registered tour that cost 60,000KRW. The tour started at 10:00am and lasted about 6:00pm. The goal of this tour was to introduce you to the main sights around.

I really liked our tour guide. She was very active and had a good sense of humour.

Our first location was 경복궁 (Gyeongbokgung Palace). This place describes the history of the Emperor and Empress.

Our second location was 북창 (Bukchang), where there are traditional Korean craft programs. We were told to be quiet while walking around this area as there are many residents that live in the traditional homes.

Next, we had lunch. (I forgot the name...) We ate the famous dish… 비빔밥!! (Bibimbap). Bibimbap is steamed rice topped with vegetables and a small portion of meat. You mix the ingredients together with a spicy pepper sauce called 고추장 (Gochujang).

Our third location was 인사동(Insadong) which has the street full of traditional Korean stores.

You can find many traditional Korean rice cakes ( - Dduk)and  shaved ice (밭빙수 - Patbingsu) stores, and tea houses around the area.

Then we walked along 청계천 (Cheonggyecheon) river. It was very sunny, but the view of the river was beautiful! There are many locals who walk this area and sit by the river to cool off. We were adventurous and crossed the stones along the river…

Our fourth location was N Seoul Tower, we did not go into the tower but just explored the area. To get to the tower, you need to hike up a steep hill! Here is the famous location where couples hang locks as a sign of forever love. The souvenir shop has a lot of N Seoul Tower themed items such as post cards, water bottles, magnets, key-chains...

While walking down you can see a nice part of the city.

Our last stop was 명동 (Myeong dong) – a location that is famous for markets, shopping, eating street food, and lots of fun. It is a very large and active area! Some North American stores can be found such as Forever 21 and H&M.

This location was our last stop. It was a long day and we had lots of fun. However, this tour was not enough to cover everything! Each location lasted only about 30 minutes or 1 hour as we were very time constrained. You will have to go back to each location to thoroughly finish exploring each area.
