Episode 04: Exploration and SNU Series - More Hongdae + CBA Orientation

안녕하세요!

Today I had my CBA orientation at 4:00pm therefore, I had more time toexplore more of Hongdae area. For lunch, I went to a restaurant called 까페술로비 (Ggape-surobi) . This restaurant specializes in “slow” meals, which is similar to theconcept of Macrobiotics. They use healthy ingredients such as brown rice, cook with less salt, and also have special vegetarian and Buddhist options if requested.

The set I had was called 그래그래밥상 (Gure-gure-bapsang) which is their meal of the day – so each daywill be different. Here, mine had brown rice, a small dish of ribs and potato, salad, kimchi, mushroom banchan, and cold seaweed soup. I told the waitressthat I was allergic to a banchan with fish that came with it, so she gave me the cold tofu side dish instead.

Here are photos of their past daily menu items:

When it was time, I went to Seoul National University to attend the CBAorientation. To get there, just take Line 2 and get off at Seoul National University Station (notthe Seoul National University of Education Station).

When you leave through EXIT 3 you will see 3 bus stops. Walkto the 3rd bus stop (last one farthest from the station) which is BUS 5511. This bus will take youdirectly to the College of BusinessAdministration Building (I-58) which is where the orientation is held.

If you take BUS 5513, it will stop outside the gate of SNU, and you just needto walk a bit further (about 10 minutes) to the CBA building.

I received a CBA hoodie (which must be pre-ordered and costs 20,000KRW.)and the CBA guidebook which details course registration, student cardinformation, opening a bank account, etc.
Be sure to introduce yourself to people at the orientation – they may belooking for a friend as well!

For dinner, I returned to Hapjeongand ate at a restaurant inside the MecenatpolisMall. (I could not find the restaurant name..)

They specialize in oyster dishes and 소바(Soba). Soba is actually the Japanese name for buckwheat noodles. In Korean, itis called 메밀 (Me-mil) and used for dishessuch as 냉면 (naengmyeon) which is a cold noodle dish.
The soup pictured here was 굴국밥 (gol-gugbap). Whenever you see 국밥on menus – it will be a soup and rice dish. It was 7,500KRW.

It was very warming and delicious. It came with a lot of oysters. There wasa bit of spice in the soup, but it was not as spicy as tofu soup.

디엔드!
That is all for today’s episode.
Thank you for reading!
